AccuSoft Corporation(Northborough, MA) has released an enhanced version of VisiQuest, asolution designed to provide researchers, scientists, engineers, andeducators with a faster way to reach discovery in the fields of dataand image analysis. The new release features a toolbox with 60additional functions for image registration and segmentation tasks,providing users with functionality for solving challenging imagingtasks. In addition, the company has cut pricing and created a bundledVisiQuest package.

Designed to save users time and effort by eliminating manual steps inimage registration, the new toolbox provides a variety of functions or"glyphs” that help solve the challenge of mapping data of a rotatedimage to a fixed image. The toolbox includes glyphs for theregistration framework components of interpolating, optimizing, andtransforming pixel data points. Users can develop solutions by simplydragging-and-dropping the glyphs into the visual programmingenvironment.

According to a press release, users can tune the parameters of acombination of glyphs in an intuitive visual environment to createdifferent methods to select areas of interest within images. Multipleglyphs for functions such as edge detection and thresholding allowusers to segment the image so that they can rapidly analyze data andget results. VisiQuest Professional includes the visual, drag-and-dropprogramming environment and all of the imaging, signal processing, anddata analysis toolboxes that AccuSoft has developed, representing morethan 600 glyphs in all.

Supported platforms include Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux, SGI IRIX, Sun Solaris, HPUX, and Apple OSX. Price:$995 (VisiQuest Professional); discounted academic research licensesand free classroom use for students will also be offered. This latestversion of VisiQuest will be available for purchase or evaluationthrough AccuSoft beginning Monday, May 15. Additionally, new optionaladd on modules are also being offered, and include the VisiQuestDevelopment Module and the VisiQuest Deployment Module.
