The M2I7-n grinding results are said to produce a mirror finish surface roughness of sub-5-nanometer Rmax. Spefications for the machine include positional range of X, Y, and Z is 50 millimeters per axis,  10-nanometer step resolution, positional repeatability is 170 nanometers,  2- x 2-inch work area with 10nm movement, and discharge pulse down to 10 nanosecond. Among the options are a vision system for specialized alignments and automated tool wear compensation and tool change over. Click here for a PDF of the M217-n’s specifications.

SmalTec also offers a range of micro-EDM and nano-grinding equipment as well as prototyping and micro manufacturing solutions and services. To go to the SmalTec website, click here.
