Agilent Release Power Device Analyzer for Circuit Design

The BI506A includes measurement for three terminal capabilities, IV parameters, power losses and more.

The Agilent B1506A, a power device analyzer for circuit design, is now available. It can characterize all power device parameters across a large range of operating conditions and temperatures, according to the company.

Agilent says the automated, easy-to-use, single-box solution will provide circuit designers with the ability to quickly obtain comprehensive key datasheet parameters. Users can view data on a graphical user interface (GUI), and this analyzer is ideal for device inspection, failure analysis and selecting power devices.

The B1506A evaluates a plethora of parameters, including IV parameters, Qg curve measurement, three terminal capacitances with high-voltage bias, gate charge, switching time and power losses. It includes a fully automated temperature dependency, integrates Thermal Plate or Thermostream and can operate within a range of -50°C to 250°C.

“While the power devices used in power electronics circuits are key to meeting industry requirements for low power loss and high switching frequency, until now no suitable solution has existed for evaluating all of the characteristics of those devices,” said Masaki Yamamoto, general manager of Agilent’s Hachioji Semiconductor Test Division. “The B1506A promises to fill this gap by providing complete characterization for those key power devices in an automated fashion.”
