Augment Desktop Incorporates 3D Models into Presentations

New Augment Desktop solution allows quick incorporation of 3D models into augmented reality presentations on and offline.

Augment, an augmented reality (AR) platform provider that allows users to envision objects in their current environment through a mobile app, has announced a solution beyond mobile: Augment Desktop. The new offering allows the quick and easy incorporation of 3D models directly from a desktop into the existing Augment solution, according to the company.

With Augment Desktop, companies can add an augmented reality layer into their sales and marketing experience or client approval process. By including 3D models with greater ease, companies across various industries can help their customers, partners and decision makers better visualize what products would look like in different environments.

Augment says Augment Desktop will improve the production efficiency and quality of 3D models for experienced graphic designers and design engineers, delivering a more efficient, seamless, user experience. Whereas some cloud solutions require adjusting and re-uploading 3D models to achieve the intended design, Augment says its new solution eliminates the multiple steps. The streamlined process results in 3D models displayed in a real environment, in minutes, says Augment. Augment Desktop also gives companies the freedom to configure interactive animations and multiple model colors for the in-app experience.

“We know augmented reality has huge potential across many different industries today, from architecture and construction, especially to manufacturing and CPG (consumer product goods), and the major investments in AR technology from leaders in the space is testament to this,” said Jean-Francois Chianetta, Augment co-founder and CEO. “While others take a hardware approach, our software-based approach takes advantage of the existing devices already in consumer’s hands. The Augment solution is platform agnostic, making the technology more accessible, and brings augmented reality that much closer to mass market.”
