Diablo Technologies Unveils Second-Generation Memory Platform

The Carbon2 supports DDR4 memory as well as next generation server architectures.

At the Flash Memory Summit in Santa Clara, CA, Diablo Technologies revealed its Carbon2, the second-generation of its Memory Channel Storage (MCS) platform. MCS bypasses traditional storage interfaces and presents non-volatile memory on the subsystem, making data accessible from the memory channel, instead of a trade-off between I/O throughput and latency.

The Carbon2 platform is DDR4-compatible and outfitted with NanoCommit technology, which supports hundreds of millions of transactions per second and enables dramatic performance and scalability advantages for enterprise applications, the company states. Its reference design kit includes drivers for Windows Server, VMWare ESXi and Linux. It also supports DDR3 memory and next generation server architectures.

“Memory Channel Storage DDR4 solutions represent the next evolution of Server Acceleration technology,” said Riccardo Badalone, CEO and co-founder of Diablo Technologies. “In addition to supporting a faster memory interface, the Carbon2 platform delivers unprecedented levels of hardware acceleration for new software innovations like NanoCommit. Converged Memory, where the best of Flash and DRAM are combined, will rely on this type of technology to give applications the ability to transparently persist updates to main memory.”
