Sigmetrix introduces Version 11.1 of CETOL 6σ, its market-leading software for dimensional tolerance analysis. The company says CETOL 6σ enables product teams to fully understand dimensional and assembly variation on all designs. Engineers use this knowledge to make adjustments before problems appear during manufacturing.

New to this update is the ability to control size aspects as part of profile geometric tolerancing. Location and orientation variables related to size are also included. This control works with cylinders, cones, spheres, torus, and arc feature types. 

Version 11.1 answers the need for understanding how variables controlled by the Profile tolerance will influence design objectives most in worst-case scenarios and statistical analyses. The Variation Rule controlling the allocation of the tolerance zone to each of the variables has been updated accordingly. 

Users of CETOL 6σ within PTC Creo and Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks can now isolate CAD display on the active object. Previous to this update, CETOL 6σ users in these two CAD products could isolate a component in a tree. The extension of this feature enables the user to focus on the specific CAD object and hide others. This benefits tasks including defining dimensions and tolerances, and eliminates the need to open the part in a separate session. This feature was previously enabled for Dassault Systèmes CATIA and Siemens NX.

CATIA and NX now have section views enabled for CETOL 6σ. This supports the definition of sectional views of the CAD model rather than having to generate them in the source CAD environment. Sectional views can also be saved within the Cetol 6σ data structure. 

Use of Patterns was introduced in Version 11.0. Sigmetrix says this update extends the capabilities in several ways: 

  • Multiple coaxial cylinders may now be defined as a pattern, in addition to multiple cylinders with parallel axes that was included in the previous release. 
  • Topological constraints between arc features to specific pattern members are now supported. 
  • Many common pattern operations are now available in the model tree context menu. 
  • Individual patterns may now be designated as a datum feature.
