Featuring five Wednesday sessions, the Global Marathon concludes on April 3, timed to coincide with Global Day of the Engineer (Global Day), the worldwide event that recognizes and celebrates engineers and their global impact. The Global Marathon entails a 5-week online forum free of charge designed for women and those who support them gain valuable career advice, according to DiscoverE, the organization heading it up.

The Global Marathon connects professionals and college students, enabling the virtual sharing of stories about personal, educational and professional challenges and successes. The event is accessible via computer, tablet or mobile phone.

Global Day, on April 3, provides ways to celebrate, partner, share and engage with engineers around the world. For Global Day 2019, engineers are encouraged to participate in a worldwide survey designed to discover what engineers around the world have in common, what’s different, and what it means for the future of engineering. The survey results will be released on April 3 (follow #GlobalEngineerSurvey). Engineers from across the globe are also encouraged to share photos representing A Day in Your Life as an Engineer. L

The 2019 Global Marathon is chaired by Patty Mamola, P.E., executive director of Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, past-president NCEES and is currently serving as Deputy Chair of APEC Engineers Agreement in association with the International Engineering Alliance.

“The Global Marathon creates a great opportunity for young women to learn from the experiences of those women that have journeyed before them,” says Mamola. “Men are encouraged to participate as well as to hear about those experiences and the insights of women in engineering.  The Marathon strives to inspire and empower young women to stay the course and reach or exceed their engineering goals.”
