JT2Go-JT Open from UGS Introduces Microsoft-based JT Documents

UGS Corp.(Plano, TX) has announced a new release of its JT2Go viewer solution.JT2Go-JT Open Edition introduces a new capability to author a varietyof Microsoftdocuments with embedded JT2Go viewers called JT Documents. Usersthroughout the supply chain can use the new release of JT2Go to view JTDocuments, while JT Open Program members will receive a key enabling them to also publish JT Documents.

The JT2Go solution is a no-charge, 3D viewing product that enablescompanies to share JT data globally. Thousands of users have alreadydownloaded JT2Go, which enables viewing of the JT format, a widely used lightweight 3D data format. JT Open is a UGSinitiative driven by global leaders to promote the development andproliferation of the JT format.

The new JT Document capability in JT2Go enables users to view 3D JTdata directly in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Excel documents withembedded JT2Go viewers. While the authoring of JT Documents iscurrently available only to JT Open Program members, all users can viewJT Documents once they have the new release of the JT2Go solutioninstalled.

“Every individual associated with a product’s lifecycle, whether theyare an executive, administrative personnel, or a customer,” said DonRichardson, Microsoft’s manufacturing industry unit director, “canbenefit from having safe and easy access to 3D product data embeddedwithin familiar applications such as Microsoft Office or SharePointPortal Server.”

Additional functionality available as standard features in JT2Go-JTOpen Edition includes basic 3D measurement and basic cross-sectioncapabilities.
