Laird Releases New EMI Absorber

The material can protect against interference as well as heat from electronic devices.

Laird, a global technology provider, has created a dual-function board level material that can improve signal integrity and temperature stability of electronic circuits. The CoolZorb 400 is a hybrid material that, according to the company, provides engineers can increase the speed of the design cycle, simplify the manufacturing process and create material cost savings.

CoolZorb 400 is a hybrid that works as both an absorber of electromagnetic interference and a conductor for thermal energy. It is used like a traditional thermal interface and can protect electronics from electromagnetic interference.

“As a result of the many new and emerging design pressures facing electronics manufacturers in such industries as IT/ Datacom, Wireless, Telecom Infrastruction and smartphones/ tablets, the application of thermal management strategies and EMI shielding has become more complex,” says Naoto Mizuta, senior vice president of Performance Materials. “The use of hybrid solutions such as the CoolZorb 400 to solve both thermal and EMI issue is set to grow drastically over the coming years.”
