NextComputing, a provider of compact, ultra high-performance computing (HPC) solutions, has released the Packet Continuum Cluster. The system is the company's latest addition to its packet capture product line.

The Packet Continuum Cluster is managed by a compact, 3U, short-depth rackmount system for high-speed capture of real-time analytics and visualization. With this technology, it is ideal for cyber forensics, cyber security and Big Data applications.

The cluster has between 60 and 960TB per storage node, overall storage amplification of up to 16x and federated search. Users can configure up to 12 cluster nodes without a network switch and utilize distribution of packet processing to 2U cluster nodes.

For data logging, the technology has 5-tuple indexing, IPFix record generation NetFlow recording, RFC anomaly logging, file exfiltration and infiltration hash logging, UID event correlation and RESTFul search query access with easy BPF+ metadata descriptors.

With the RESTFul interface, users can access log and metadata information visualization, conduct node management as well as MapReduce support for multiple cluster. The interface also offers remote access, automation and control through an analytics application and framework.
