RIGOL Expands Oscilloscope Portfolio

The device offers a host of options for scalability, the company states.

RIGOL Technologies has expanded their offerings for mixed signal oscilloscopes. The new DS1000Z Plus series, according to the company, allows users to purchase a four-channel analog scope and upgrade with a 16-channel logic analysis capability at a later time.

The DS1000Z Plus has bandwidths of 70MHz—100MHz, four analog channels, 1GSa/sec sampling, 12Mpts memory and an optional integrated two-channel source.  According to a company press release, as analysis needs grow there are five available upgrades that can be purchased and applied to the instrument at any time:

  • MSO Upgrade - Adds 16 channel logic analysis capability
  • Advanced Triggering - Adds advanced triggering capabilities for complex debug
  • Record Mode - Record and replay up to 60,000 frames
  • Serial Decode and Trigger - Decode and trigger on many popular busses
  • Extended Memory - Extend memory depth to 24MPoints
“Our customers need flexibility and an affordable entry point into new technology.  Unfortunately, the incremental cost of adding Logic Analysis capabilities at purchase has left some customers purchasing products today that don’t meet the needs of tomorrow.  The DS1000Z Plus eliminates that concern and customers can be confident their scope will grow with their application needs.  As an added benefit for some of our customers in teaching labs, the Logic Analysis probe can be shared between multiple instruments further minimizing the investment required in environments where logic analysis needs are only infrequently required,” says Mike Rizzo, general manager at RIGOL USA.
