Simcenter Amesim 2019.1 provides additional connections to other Siemens Simcenter products, including Star CCM+. 

Siemens PLM Software says its update of Simcenter Amesim system simulation software helps accelerate digital twin creation through greater ease of use and democratized access to system simulation. The 2019.1 edition extends Modelica support and integration with other Simcenter solutions, and is designed to help users set up a multidiscipline toolchain throughout the systems development cycle.

Simcenter Amesim 2019.1 increases utility in four broad categories: vehicle electrification; aircraft systems performance engineering; controls engineering; and system simulation efficiency and ease of use.

Transportation industries are rapidly shifting toward e-mobility. This update of Simcenter Amesim enhances the vehicle electrification process with improved integration with other Siemens Simcenter products. Using the same app for linear and nonlinear variants, engineers can import permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) parameters from Simcenter Motorsolve to test their machine design in the vehicle context earlier in the design cycle. Additionally, battery equivalent circuit models from Simcenter Battery Design Studio can be imported, allowing a shared battery model, including visualization. The battery model can also be integrated into vehicle energy management analysis.

Aircraft systems performance engineering benefits from upgraded CAD import capabilities for fuel systems. It is easier to create rib submodes and all required tank and rib data files. There is also enhanced post-processing apps and a scaling tool for aircraft engines and gas turbines, along with new rotorcraft engine demonstrators.

There is a big shift across all mobility industries toward connected, software-intensive complex products; with Simcenter Amesim, it all comes together in controls engineering. Controls engineering keeps abreast of the industry trend toward connected, software-intensive products with enhancements for controls design and validation. It is now possible to simultaneously optimize the mechanics, electronics and software as an integrated system. Signal buses can now be used to manage data transfers between physical subsystems, and there is a new tool for proportional-integral-derivative controller calibration. Real-time components for thermal and valve train systems reduce CPU load and the time it takes to run hardware-in-the-loop simulations.

There is a new tool for PID (proportional-integral-derivative) controller calibration, making it possible to visualize closed-loop step responses and compare to stability margins. There are also new real-time components for thermal and valve train systems, which reduce your CPU overhead when running hardware-in-the-loop simulations.

System efficiency in Simcenter Amesim is improved with new connections to Modelica. A Modelica compiler has been added to Simcenter Amesim, and there is full support for the Modelica Standard Library v3.2.2. There is new one-click support for converting existing hydraulic models into thermal-hydraulic models, while maintaining model structure and parameters. There is also a new app for two-phase flow thermodynamic cycle predesign, making it possible to assess steady-state cycle performance in a few seconds by adapting design points from predefined cycles. 

Simcenter Amesim 2019.1 also includes new capabilities for shipbuilding, and for improving internal combustion engine vehicles to meet the Real Driving Emissions standard. 

Simcenter Amesim 2019.1 is now available to registered users.
