Creaform (Levis, Canada) released Version 1.2 of its VXScan Capture Software during its Annual User Group Meeting in October.

The new software features an automatic isolated patches remover, capable of removing the unwanted noise after scans, around the part, or in portions of a piece.  It can also automatically select or adjust the sensitivity of the cleaning feature, as well as lock or protect parts or selections to be deleted.

Other improvements include improved surface reconstruction for thin surfaces; clearer and sharper boundaries; the capability to import targets acquired with photogrametry systems; support for user selectable measurement units including the metric system as well as the English system (mm, inches, feet…), improving VXScan’s compatibility with other CAD systems in the market; and reference adapters which make it possible to compare two parts with the use of references targets.
