UberCloud High Performance Computing (HPC) in Azure Cloud

Accelerate innovation. Optimize quality

Rimac Technology designs and builds high performance electric sports cars, drive trains, and battery systems. Rimac, based in Croatia, is the ground-breaking manufacturer of the world’s fastest electric sports cars. Rimac engineers were running more and more simulations with an on-premises high performance computing (HPC) cluster. Compute power was falling short, while the demand for resources was growing exponentially.

What is and why use high performance computing?

With the increasing need to perform more and more simulations and process evermore data within the manufacturing industry and more specifically, within Research and Development departments, the corresponding need for more compute power has also risen dramatically in recent years.

When it comes to complex applications such as weather forecasting and risk assessment, standard computing just cannot keep up. But when companies are focused on manufacturing in areas that demand heavy simulations, unbridled compute power, or the management of data-intensive applications and workflows, challenges multiply exponentially and standard computing doesn’t provide the answers.

In these instances, for compute- and dataintensive workloads, the solution is high performance computing (HPC). HPC enables the high-speed analysis of data and the processing of complex simulations (some including terabytes of data), delivering the necessary compute power, flexibility, and agility required by the most compute- and data-intensive applications.
