Aglient Technologies Enhances X-Series Signal Analyzers

Updates include higher frequency coverage and new USB external amplifiers.

Aligent Technologies  has updated its MXA and EXA X-Series signal analyzers. These enhancements are designed for engineers performing wireless communications and general-purpose testing within the product life cycle.

Improvements for the MXA signal mixer include a new Noise Floor Extension (NFE) feature for the MXA signal analyzer. With this feature, the analyzer can reach up to a 9-dB sensitivity. Users can also use an external mixing option for high-frequency coverage, which covers frequencies beyond 26.5 GHz. The additional option of using VDI’s frequency extender to reach up to 1.1 THz, is also available.

Both MXA and EXA X-Series now include a new set of USB external preamplifiers and an atomic frequency reference option. This, according to the company, builds on previous improvements to the analyzer’s short-term frequency stability by adding a 100x improvement in long-term frequency stability. This allows base-station installers to verify signal transmission synchronization via multiple antennas.

“Engineers are facing a number of challenges as they begin working in millimeter-wave and higher frequencies, including more accurately identifying and measuring weak or previously unknown signals, as well as achieving a higher level of frequency stability,” said Jim Curran, marketing manager for Agilent’s Microwave and Communications Division. “Each of the enhancements offered by Agilent provides engineers new insight to keep pace with evolving wireless industry requirements.”
