Daimler Certifies solidThinking Inspire Platform

The software will be available as part of the Altair HyperWorks suite.

Daimler AG has certified solidThinking’s Inspire, a platform that enables engineers to create and investigate structurally efficient concepts. This means that the Inspire software will be available as part of the Altair HyperWorks CAE software suite.

While traditional structural simulations allow engineers to verify if a design will support the required loads, Inspire enhances the process by directly generating an optimal new material layout within a given design space, the company states.

solidThinking Inspire assists engineers in following the functional and resource-efficient design rules found within nature, creating more organic looking shapes and structures. This approach helps automotive companies looking to achieve lighter, structurally efficient designs and also meet global emission regulations.

“Historically, the sophisticated optimization technology contained within solidThinking Inspire was only available to simulation specialists. This technology can now be used where it offers the greatest return — within the concept phase of a new development project,” said Pietro Cervellera, managing director, Altair Engineering GmbH. “We are thrilled about the certification and look forward to supporting the organization both during and after deployment.”
