The fine people at 3D Systems have been busy, busy, busy. It wasn’t all that long ago we covered the launch of the ZPrinter 850. Tripping on the heels of that news is another new system, the ProJet 3500 Series.

The ProJet 3500 series uses 3D Systems patented Multi-Jet Modeling and comes in three flavors, including the ProJet SD 3500, ProJet HD 3500 and the ProJet HD 3500Plus. All three systems use VisiJet UV curable acrylic plastics. These plastics have been designed for different uses (and come in a number of colors), providing 3D printing options for prototyping and end use applications, direct casting and medical applications.

ProJet HD 3500 Plus

The HD and Plus models come with a five-year printer head warranty and said warranty is also offered as an available option for the standard model. The HD build envelope offered by all three systems is 298 x 185 x 203 mm (11.75 x 7.3 x 8 in.) with a resolution of 375 x 375 x 790 DPI (xyz) and 32μ layers.

Ultra High Density (as defined by 3D Systems) is available on the HD and Plus versions and offer a build envelope of 127 x 178 x 152 mm (5 x 7 x 6 in.) with a resolution of 750 x 750 x 890 DPI (xyz) and 29μ layers. The Plus system offers an even finer resolution option (the company defines it as Xtreme High Definition) with a build envelope of 203 x 178 x 152 mm (8 x 7 x 6 in.), a resolution of 750 x 750 x 1600 DPI (xyz) and 16μ layers.

"We have listened to our customers and advanced our ProJet technology to professional-grade performance and ease-of-use," said Buddy Byrum, vice president of Product & Channel Management for 3D Systems. "We are excited to bring next-generation 3D printers that deliver greater productivity, enhanced performance and production-floor-readiness for the benefit of our growing installed base globally."

Below you’ll find a video from 3D Systems covering the launch of the 3500 ProJet series.
