ESI Group has acquired technology from Ciespace to further its virtual prototyping solutions for the cloud. This transaction, according to the company, is in response to the growing demand for on-demand cloud products and services.

The Ciespace platform is a CAE solution on the cloud that offers modeling capabilities in an open environment. By integrating it into ESI's offerings, the company states, this will help the democratization of CAE for a variety of enterprises. It will also accelerate the deployment of ESI's solutions.

“Riding the accelerated transformational wave of Information & Communications Technologies (ICT), Ciespace’s leading edge CAE cloud-based modeling tool will provide ESI with a quantum leap in its Go-to-Market strategy. Enabling a full cloud/SaaS (software-as-a-service) offering of our virtual prototyping solutions will create considerable additional value to our existing and future customers; substantially lowering the cost of ownership and the need for in-house expertise. Furthermore, Ciespace’s high caliber engineering team will bring to ESI its advanced knowledge and proven experience in both CAE and cloud technologies," says Alain de Rouvray, chairman and CEO at ESI Group.
