National Instruments Launches New Embedded Systems Hardware

National Instruments (NI), a provider of platform-based systems, has launched new embedded systems hardware based on the LabVIEW reconfigurable I/O (RIO) architecture. These include the CompactRIO Controller, Controller for FlexRIO and the Single-Board RIO Controller.

These controllers, according to a company press release, offer a small form factor, integrate the latest embedded technology from Intel and Xilinx and are fully supported by LabVIEW, the LabVIEW FPGA (field programming gate array) Module and NI Linux Real-Time.

The CompactRIO Controller now has an Intel Atom processor, Kintex-7 FPGA, an embedded user interface for local HMIs and secure digital storage.

Updates to the Controller for FlexRIO include a Dual-Core ARM Processor and a form factor of 1.75 x 5.5 in.

Engineers can now utilize a Zynq system-on-chip (SoC) with NI Linux Real-Time on the Single-Board RIO Controller with code reuse.

The software-hardware combination brings together intelligent systems, connectivity and system-to-system communications and makes it ideal for Internet of Things applications, NI states.
