April 29, 2015

National Instruments has released version 14.0 of Multisim, the company's SPICE simulation platform. This version, according to the company, provides new features for an enhanced user experience, quicker access to simulation results and improved interactive simulation. It is also equipped with active analysis functionality as well as graphic and post-processing results.

For educational features, Multisim 14.0 has an active analysis mode, support for iPads, and FPGA (field-programmable gate array) board support for learning digital logic. New probes for voltage, current and power have also been added to help users visualize simulation results. Additionally, users can export to Gerber and PCB (printed circuit board) fabrication files to complete projects.

Furthermore, version 14.0 has a host of new design features. These include more than 6,000 new components from varying manufacturers, Multisim and Ultiboard training and co-simulation capabilities between Multisim and MPLAB. Users can also get power supply circuits with MOSFETs (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor) and IGBTs (insulated gate bipolar transistors) from NXP and International Rectifier with the platform's expanded support.
