Bright Computing, a provider of hardware-agnostic cluster and cloud management software, has released version 7.1 of its OpenStack management software. This release integrates Ceph, an open source distributed object store and file system.

With this integration, the company states, users are provided with highly available and self-healing storage backend for volumes and objects. Ceph can be deployed as a standalone environment or as an OpenStack storage backend, monitoring an environment with over 60 metrics and removing physical nodes.

Additional features in version 7.1 include the ability to manage Ceph cluster map algorithms, rebalancing physical storage and preferred storage allocation.
