Geometric Software Solutions (Bombay, India), provider of PLM (product lifecycle management) services andtechnologies, and CoCreate Software GmbH have announcedthe release of SolidWorks' eDrawings Professional for OneSpaceDesigner. This is said to be the first of a series of products tobe released as a result of Geometric's signing of a license agreement withCoCreate, whereby eDrawings lays the foundation forlightweight viewing of CAD designs across all CoCreate products.

With eDrawings Professional for OneSpace Designer, designers may now save theirCoCreate CAD designsin the eDrawings format. With lightweight viewing formats likeeDrawings, suppliers and customers can see engineering models in eDrawings andthen offerexpertise in design reviews.

Thesoftware is now available with version 13.01 of OneSpace Designer. Thecompany offers a Basic and Professional version of eDrawings. The Basicversion is available for all users of Designer Modeling and canbe used to share 2D and 3D CAD designs. The files are compact anddesigned to be easy to email, being typically 90percent smalle than their CAD file counterparts, says the company.Unlike otherformats such as PDF and TIF, eDrawings files are designed to be highlyinteractive, sorecipients can actually experience designs in 3D.

The Professional version is available as a separate add on, and can be used toproduce inspection- and review-enabled eDrawings, and to add markup,comment, measure, and dynamic cross-sectioning to eDrawings.

eDrawings supports AutoCAD, CATIA V5, UG 17, 18 and NX,Autodesk Inventor Series, Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, andSolidWorks software. Product information is available at http://www.cocreate.com/eDrawings.
