EPLAN has released its Design Space Exchange module. This plug-in supports data exchange between mechanical construction and control system technology in control cabinet and switchgear construction.

The expansion module is compatible with Autodesk Inventor and based on fully-parametric 3D geometric data models of mechanical design. It accesses the CAD data and makes it the basis for the mounting layout on the EPLAN platform.

“Without the cabinet case, there is no mounting layout, and without the mounting layout, there is no final case design. This dilemma can now be resolved with the Design Space Exchange expansion module,” says Thomas Weichsel, product manager at EPLAN. "[The module also has] Interdisciplinary data synchronization [that] reduces potential sources of error and product development costs, saving time while improving quality.”
