(Boulder, CO) has released the IDL Script Node for National Instruments' (Austin, TX) LabVIEW, a new add-on module for IDL that gives users of IDL and the LabVIEW graphical development environment a powerful new way to share data, visualizations, and analysis information.

The IDL Script Node means LabVIEW users can leverage the advanced visualization and analysis capabilities of IDL within LabVIEW by writing new code or by executing existing IDL applications from the LabVIEW graphical development environment. Conversely, IDL users can now also take full advantage of the test, measurement, and control capabilities of LabVIEW in their workflow.

"As applications for acquiring larger data sets continue to grow," said Harold Cline of RSI, "users in science and engineering fields are facing a growing need for visualization and analysis tools to understand their data. Seamlessly integrating IDL functionality with LabVIEW now allows users to take advantage of the power of both powerhouse products and focus more time on the project at hand, rather than the tool being used to complete it."
