A new graphics card, the Millennium P650 PCIe 128, was recently announced byMatrox Graphics Inc. (Montreal, Canada), a manufacturer of professional graphics solutions. The cardis the first MillenniumP-Series product for PCIExpress. According to Matrox Graphics, this card has fullnative x16 PCI Expresssupport, and 128MB of graphics memory.

The Millennium P650 PCIe 128 also has a feature called the Matrox DualHead. Thisenables theuse of two digital or analog monitors at one time. With this feature, the cardcan support digitalmonitors at resolutions up to 1920 X 1200, or analog monitors up to 1920 X1440. With a single analog monitor, the card supports up to 2048 X 1536. Inaddition, this product includes Matrox UltraSharp Display OutputTechnology, single- and multi-display acceleration for OpenGL andMicrosoft DirectX, and high-quality display drivers for MicrosoftWindows 2000 and Windows XP.

Display drivers for the Linux and SunSolaris x86 operating systems will be available as upgrades.

Slated for April 2005 availability, the Matrox Millennium P650PCIe 128 graphics card will be offered at a list price of $249,and will be available from authorized resellers or directly from Matrox's Web site.

Matroxalso recently announced March 2005 availability of another graphicscard, the Matrox QIP LP PCIe, which the company says handles fourdisplays at once, and is ideal for mission-critical, multi-displayapplications and monitoring systems. Read the full writeup about this new product.
