ITOX (East Brunswick, NJ), a provider of embedded x86 products, has announced the introduction of its Mini-ITX motherboard supporting Intel dual-core processors. The company's new G5C100-N-G Mini-ITX motherboard uses the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset supported under Intel's Embedded Architecture program, and accepts a wide range of Intel mPGA 479 packaged processors, says the company. These include the Intel Core Duo processor featuring dual-core architecture, Intel Core Solo processor, Intel Celeron M processor and Intel Celeron M ULV processor.

According to ITOX Applied Computing Vice President Robert Liao, many users who require additional processing speed are constrained by thermal limitations. The company says the new ITOX Mini-ITX provides up to 50 percent higher performance over its current Intel Pentium M processor-based motherboards. When applications are written to take advantage of dual-core architecture, performance increases of up to 100 pecent are possible, with no increase in power requirements.

The motherboard retains full compatibility with the Intel Celeron M processor. Maximum performance is leveraged through the use of DDR2 533MHz or 667MHz dual-channel memory, dual onboard PCI-Express Gigabit Ethernet controllers and Intel GMA 950 graphics.

Intel Core Duo processors contain two execution units and one shared 2MB L2 cache memory, which features Intel Smart Cache Design to further enhance performance. This allows the processing units to operate in parallel, similar in performance to a dual-processor system, but with a lower power requirement. In addition, the new G5C100-N-G Mini-ITX board is RoHS compliant and uses the Intel 945GM Express chipset paired with an Intel ICH7M I/O controller hub. A single mPGA 479 socket provides support for specified Intel processors with 667MHz, 533MHz, and 400MHz system bus speed.

The G5C100-N-G Mini-ITX form-factor (6.7 in. X 6.7 in.) motherboard includes 2-Gigabit LAN Ports, 4-Serial COM Ports, 8-USB 2.0 ports, 2-PS/2 Ports, 1-VGA Port (2048 X 1536), 1-LVDS DFP Interface (1600 X 1200), Onboard 5.1 channel Audio with S/PDIF Out, 2-Serial ATA Interfaces, 1-Ultra ATA 100 Interface, 1-CompactFlash Type II Socket, 1-FDD Interface, and up to 4GB DDR2 533MHz or 667MHz dual-channel memory in 2-200-pin SODIMM Sockets.

Sample units are currently available, with production quantities expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2006 For more information, visit itox.com.
