Moldflow Corp. (Wayland, MA) and Elysium Co. Ltd.(Southfield, MI) have inked a deal under which Moldflow will resell acustomized version of Elysium's CADdoctor geometry translation, repair, and simplification solution. The Moldflow CAD Doctor has been designedspecifically for the needs of the plastics injection molding industryand enables the interactive diagnostic analysis of 3D CAD data withtools for generating optimized models for predictive analysisapplications such as the Moldflow Plastics Advisers (MPA) and MoldflowPlastics Insight (MPI).

The Moldflow CAD Doctor gives designers the ability to perform morethan 30 different types of model quality checks. It has a stitching andhealing toolset that automatically sews together free edges in a modelas well as identifies and fixes discontinuities, overlaps, intersections, and other geometry errors.

Moldflow CAD Doctor also offers a number of automatic and manual toolsthat help designers optimize geometry for use with MPA or MPI bysuppressing or simplifying small fillets, radii, slivers, chamfers, lettering, tool symbols, embossing, and logos. Its set of geometrycreation tools means designers do not have to revert to an MCAD systemto make simple geometry modifications, such as adding ribs, bosses, andflow leaders or increasing thickness in specific regions.

The Moldflow CAD Doctor product is expected to ship by the end of December. Formore details, visit the Moldflow website.
