INUS Technology released Rapidform XOR2/Redesign, 3D scanning software that creates parametric solid models for SolidWorks, UGS NX, and Pro/ENGINEER from point cloud data. The new version integrates with laser scanners from Konica, Minolta, Vivid, Creaform, HandyScan, and Z Corp. Its liveScan feature supports point-cloud capture with scanners from Faro, Perceptron, Romer, Kreon Technologies, Steinbichler, and others. It also accepts touch-probe input for digitizing of primitives and freeform curve interpolation.

A new Mesh Build-up Wizard automatically creates watertight meshes from raw scan data. A Lofting Wizard automates creation of smooth surfaces and profile curves. Rapidform XOR2/Redesign features a new interface to Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 as well as enhanced interfaces to SolidWorks and UGS NX 4. G2 continuity is supported through all surface modeling functions. A 64-bit version of the product will be released commercially later this year.

Calvin Hur, INUS vice-president of marketing and global sales, says, "Over the past year, we have received valuable input and guidance from our users on how to refine and perfect this software application. XOR2/Redesign is our answer to their requests and suggestions."
