ANSYS, Inc.(Southpointe, PA; ansys.com) has announced the availability of ASAS 14,structural finite element software for the offshore industry, and AQWA5.6, a hydrodynamic assessment software suite.

Developed by ANSYS, Inc.'s Century Dynamics group, ASAS introduces newfeatures, including a simple method for defining internal tank loadingfor vessels. Additionally, the unique nonlinear coupled wave-structureinteraction facility has been enhanced with the addition of effectivetension for curved tubular elements. Also being shipped is a brand newversion of the modeling and results display system FEMGV Version 7,providing a new graphical user interface as well as introducingautomated repair capabilities for CAD geometry imported into FEMGV.

AQWA 5.6 introduces a number of new features including the ability tohandle up to 50 interconnected structures, user definedmultidirectional wave spectra, and improved handling of irregularfrequencies as well as standing waves.

"The latest releases of ASAS and AQWA boast more capacity, morecapability and more flexibility," said Naury Birnbaum, general managerfor ANSYS, Inc. and a founder of Century Dynamics. "For example, AQWA'sability to handle up to 50 articulated structures is a five-foldincrease over the previous limit while the ASAS Toolkit has beenextended enabling users to write more extensive special applicationsusing ASAS results."
