Delcam to Launch a New Range of Adaptive Machining

PS-Fixture from Delcam, Inc. (Windsor, ONT; delcam.com) combines the company's expertise in machining and inspection software with new Adaptive Machining techniques to reduce the potential for operator error and other problems caused by variations in the manufacturing process.
In a nutshell, here's what Adaptive Machine means for you. The programming of most machining operations rests upon knowing three things: the position of the workpiece on the machine, the starting shape of the material to be machined, and the workpiece's intended final shape. Adaptive Machining allows successful machining when at least one of these elements is unknown. It uses in-process measurement to close the information gaps. Thus, Adaptive Machining creates a closed loop between the MCAD-to-CAM workflow.

PS-Fixture is driven using a scripting engine, which provides the vast majority of work automatically. It uses standard HTML and other web-based technology in an easy to understand graphical interface. Adaptive Machining enables PS-Fixture to combine machining, inspection, and adaptive fixturing within a customized environment. This, in turn, enhances control over the manufacturing process, leading to reduced delivery times and material cost saving.

Delcam will officially launch PS-Fixture with Adaptive Machining techniques at the IMTS exhibition (imts.com) in Chicago in September.
