Metris (Leuven, Belguim) has released the K-Series DMM 3.0, a softwareupgrade that turns the K-Series Optical CMM system into what thecompany calls a "Dynamic Measuring Machine." With DMM 3.0, the K-Seriessystem can be used as a stand-alone measurement system with datastreamed directly to a client application for further analysis.

The non-contact K-Series Optical CMM system features a portable CMMthat measures 3D coordinates by monitoring the positions of infraredLEDs. With three LEDs attached to an object, you can measure anobject's full 6-DOF position including rotation, according to thecompany.  By capturing 3D coordinates and 6-DOF motion at a highfrequency, the DMM 3.0 software is said to enable measurement ofdynamic properties such as displacements, velocities, accelerations, overshoots, and oscillation frequencies.

DMM 3.0 enables direct data streaming of coordinate data to clientapplications without any limits of the measurement time. This approachis said to allow an easy integration of the K-Series DMM displacementsensor into any measurement or control platform. A 3D scene viewercontinuously visualizes the measurement environment while measuring.

DMM 3.0 supports the use of up to 8 cameras as such extending themeasurement volume to the needs of the user. DMM 3.0 is compatible withthe post-processing and visualization functions of the DMM Modular 2.5analysis software. For further details, click here.
