NVision (Southlake, TX) says that a new camera design in its newModelMaker Z Series laser scanners provide higher accuracy by resolvingdetails half the size of those that could be captured by the previousmodel. Additionally, the new model can be powered by a battery for upto 2 hours of remote operation as well as controlled by a laptopcomputer giving such manufacturing companies as automobile, aerospace, injection molding, and product design a fully portable, highly accuratesystem.

The ModelMaker Z series incorporates a number of new features said toimprove performance on difficult-to-scan parts, such as those withshiny or dark surfaces. For example, its Enhanced Sensor Performance(ESP) feature enables the sensor to real-time feedback to fine-tune itssensitivity on the fly. Also, ModelMaker Z’s Adaptive Laser Power (ALP)capability improves scanner performance by leveraging real-timefeedback of a part’s color and reflectivity to change laser intensityautomatically.

NVision can supply systems with one, two, or three sensors. The threesensors can capture more 23,000 points per second with available stripewidths of 35mm, 70mm, and 140 mm. The side-mounted design providesmakes the scanner unobtrusive and allows easy control and ergonomichandling. ModelMaker software allows data capture with the laser orhard probe without the need to remove the sensor. The software allowsfull model editing, polygon reduction, and data output to all standard3D CAD and inspection packages.

The ModelMaker System includes a portable CMM to which a 3D lasersensor is attached, a PC, and dedicated ModelMaker software to extract, display, manipulate, and export the data. The ModelMaker Z is fullycompatible with all industry-standard portable CMMs. For moreinformation, visit NVision’s website.
