MTI Systems, a developer of cost estimation solutions, has released Costimator 14.0. This version, the company states, has new features such as 3DFX, enhanced cost models and SQL Server 2014 compatibility.

3DFX is an add-on for automated feature recognition (AFR) that identifies features and parameters from solid models and increases cost estimation speed for quoting. It also gives users control over the part features they choose to extract and import into Costimator.

A total of 46 new cost models have also been added to include lasercut, sandblast, panel saw, surface work and welding features.

Additionally, cost-profit summary reporting is now available and can show multiple quantity cost and profit details for labor, purchased parts, outside services and raw materials.

“More and more of our customers are gaining access to solid models during the estimating process,” said Thomas Charkiewicz, MTI Systems’ president and CEO. “3DFX gives them the ability to quickly view, analyze and extract feature data from the model into Costimator. This not only saves them a tremendous amount of time but also increases the accuracy of their estimates.”
