PTC (Needham, MA) announced two new products during its PTC World USER 2008 conference, offering visual collaboration software and multiCAD support. The newest version of its Windchill visual collaboration software, ProductView 9.1, which gives manufacturers accelerated ability to gain product insight in order to improve decision making and reduce time to market of new products.

With its performance gains, a task-focused user interface, and MCAD-ECAD collaboration capabilities, ProductView 9.1 lets customers to gracefully adapt to their changing visual collaboration needs without having to install disparate tools or develop custom integrations.

Additionally with this release, the ProductView 9.1 family achieves an industry-first through its support of the ProSTEP IDX (Interdomain Design Exchange) standard. With this capability, PTC becomes the first provider of mechanical computer-aided-design solutions to adhere to this openly defined method for communicating incremental design changes bi-directionally between the mechanical and electrical domains.

Also, PTC announced Windchill ProductPoint, its new solution for capturing, handling, and sharing product development information adding multi-CAD data and 3D visualization support to its platform and broadens access to product information. Windchill ProductPoint benefits companies of all sizes by providing smaller companies with an ideal steppingstone into product lifecycle management (PLM) and giving larger companies with a SharePoint strategy the ability to extend their product development system to broader user communities.

A future release of Windchill ProductPoint, which is expected to be available in CYQ4 2008, is planned to support the sharing of information among other Windchill-based systems. For the capabilities and benefits of Windchill ProductPoint, which was announced and demonstrated at the PTC/USER World Event on June 2, 2008, go to PTC.
