Varonis Systems Inc., a software solutions provider for unstructured enterprise data, has released DatAnywhere 1.8 for general availability and updated the application to include increased security features.

DatAnywhere, launched in 2012, converts a company's file shares into a private cloud. Version 1.8 has increased security features, such as the ability for administrators to remotely wipe data from clients and specify what devices are connected to the private cloud. It also includes updates that allow employees to more efficiently access and share data with an address book integration and third-party sharing capabilities.

“We are seeing more and more IT departments turning to alternatives to traditional cloud storage, citing security risks and a desire to leverage existing infrastructure investments as the main reasons. DatAnywhere provides a secure private cloud that meets both of these requirements as well as the burgeoning employee demands for ease-of-use, mobile access and third-party collaboration.”

Varonis DatAnywhere can be downloaded for up to five users at no cost.
