Now entering its fourth year, the International Conference on Rapid Manufacturing (Nottingham, UK), which is regarded as one of the leading platforms for both academics and industrialists engaged in this exciting new field.

Hosted by the Rapid Manufacturing Research Group at Loughborough University UK, the conference attracts more than 150 delegates from around the world and brings together researchers, vendors, and users of additive technologies.

The 2009 conference will again focus on RM process and materials development, supply chain and management issues, design for RM and novel RM applications within industry.

The organizing committee has decided that five out of the 20 presentations at the 2009 conference will be as the result of an open call for papers. Abstracts of 400 words or less are now invited from leading academics or industrialists engaged in either ground breaking RM research or commercial application. Abstracts will not be accepted from research staff or students, or commercial technology vendors. However, exceptional partnership papers will be considered if presented by a leading academic or technology user. Abstracts are due January 28, 2009.
