3Dconnexion (Fremont, CA) announced its line of 3D mice are supported by SolidWorks 2009, and they complement the speed and efficiency gains provided in SolidWorks 2009, offering CAD professionals more intuitive navigation and control for enhanced design performance.

3Dconnexion 3D mice integrate seamlessly into the SolidWorks design workflow, offering advanced navigation and design benefits that support new features in SolidWorks 2009, including Large Assemblies, SpeedPak Technology, and Simulation Sensors.

In addition to enhancing the design experience, 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice help improve the quality of designs by aiding in the detection of design flaws. 3Dconnexion’s SpaceNavigator, SpaceNavigator for Notebooks, SpaceExplorer and SpacePilot are virtual extensions of design engineers working in SolidWorks 2009, making otherwise complex movements simple. For expanded control benefits, the SpaceExplorer and SpacePilot 3D mice also feature programmable buttons that allow users to execute frequently used commands with one-click access for key functions and keyboard modifiers.

3Dconnexion also announced its 3D mice enable architects to visualize their virtual building in a more intuitive manner, whether working in a perspective or axonometry view. In addition, ArchiCAD 12 offers specific options for controlling the mode of navigation with a 3D mouse, allowing users to select either camera mode or object mode for effortless control.

Additional highlights include support by ArchiCAD 12 with Hotfix Build 2325 on Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Vista (32-bit and 64-bit), and Macintosh OS X 10.4.6 and higher; SpaceNavigator Personal Edition (MSRP $59), SpaceNavigator Standard Edition (MSRP $99), SpaceNavigator for Notebooks (MSRP $129), SpaceExplorer (MSRP $299), and SpacePilot (MSRP $399); and 3Dconnexion provides advanced and affordable 3D mice that are supported by Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended and Acrobat 9, Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya, Blender, DAZ 3D DAZ Studio, Google Earth and SketchUp, Microsoft Virtual Earth, Second Life Grid Platform, Smith Micro Software Poser, SolidWorks, and all of the top-tier 3D CAD applications.
