Acumem now has full support for the new Intel Xeon 5500 series processors in its Acumem ThreadSpotter and Acumem SlowSpotter performance optimization tools, including the recently launched Windows version.

Acumem’s technology allows programmers of multi-core or multi-threaded systems to fully use the performance of their systems.

”Innovation in supporting Intel multicore processors is very important for software developers these days and computing performance is critical to Intel and our customers,” said James Reinders, director and chief evangelist for Intel Software Development Products.  “Acumem has experience in helping with both of these challenges, and now brings that expertise to Intel’s latest processors.”

The performance impact of moving applications to new multicore architectures is significant and can be further enhanced by adapting the application code to the specific features of the multicore architecture. Acumem ThreadSpotter analyzes application bottlenecks, such as multi-threaded interaction, memory bandwidth, and cache utilization based on the specifics of a certain processor. The resulting analysis is presented as advice to programmers on what to optimize and how to do it, increasing both performance of the application and productivity of the programmer.
