At Formnext, Additec introduced the Hybrid3, a multi-technology manufacturing platform.

The Hybrid3 combines liquid metal jetting (LMJ) and laser-directed energy deposition (LDED) capabilities alongside computer numerical control (CNC) machining.

LMJ, with its high-resolution capabilities, enables ability to create intricate and fine-detailed components. It uses cost-effective commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) welding wire, with complete material use.

LDED, known for its high deposition rate capability, accelerates manufacturing, making it made for producing larger components or reducing lead times. Just like LMJ, LDED employs COTS welding wire and complete material use to drive cost efficiency.

The Hybrid3’s multi-material capability integrates LMJ and LDED heads within a single system. Complex components with varying materials and properties are within reach.

The system’s subtractive process, primarily driven by CNC machining, plays a role in achieving the desired surface finish and tight tolerances for parts manufactured using additive processes. The Hybrid3 ensures that the final products meet and exceed stringent quality standards.
