Adobe Systems Incorporated (San Jose, CA)announced the Adobe Technical Communication Suite 2, an upgrade of Adobe’ssolution for authoring, reviewing, managing, and publishing rich technicalinformation and training content across multiple channels.

Documentation, training materials,and Web-enabled user assistance can contain both traditional text and 3D designsalong with rich media, including Adobe Flash Player compatible video, AVI, MP3and SWF file support.

The suiteincludes Adobe FrameMaker 9, the latest version of Adobe’s technical authoringand Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) publishing solution; AdobeRoboHelp 8, which upgrades Adobe’s help system and knowledge base authoringtool; Adobe Captivate 4 enhances Adobe’s eLearning authoring tool; and PhotoshopCS4 is a new addition to the suite. The suite also includes Adobe Acrobat 9 ProExtended and Adobe Presenter 7.

Offeringimproved productivity along with support for standards-based authoring includingsupport for DITA, an XML-based standard for authoring, producing and deliveringtechnical information, the suite enables the creation of rich content andpublishing through XML/HTML, print, PDF, WSF, WebHelp, Adobe FlashHelp,Microsoft HTML Help, OracleHelp, JavaHelp and Adobe AIR. Plus, reviewer commentscan be imported directly from PDF.

The suiteis $1899; plus, FrameMaker 9 ($999), RoboHelp 8 ($999), and Captivate 4 ($799)are available as stand-alone products. All are compatible with Microsoft WindowsXP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended) and Windows Vista HomePremium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1.
