Altium has stated that it will acquire two electronic parts content and search providers, Octopart and Ciiva. These acquisitions, the company states, will enable Altium to expand its product lineup to include an integrated content strategy for streamlined component management.

Octoparts provides users direct access to over 30 million electronic and industrial components as well as a supplier database network.

Ciiva helps teams address challenges associated with component data management and BOM (bill of materials).

“The acquisitions of Octopart and Ciiva represent a significant step forward in the evolution of the Altium content strategy,” said Aram Mirkazemi, CEO at Altium. “Tightly integrated CAD models and part supply information will bring a state change to the way in which parts selection and component management are performed during and after the design process is completed.”

Altium will be working with both Octopart and Ciiva teams to integrate more functionality into its platforms over the coming months.
