AMD has extended its 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processor family with six new offerings providing a suite of data center CPUs to meet the needs of general IT and mainstream computing. The complete family of 3rd Gen AMD EPYC CPUs complements the performance and efficiency of the latest 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors with price performance, modern security features and energy efficiency.
The 3rd Gen AMD EPYC CPU portfolio enables an array of enterprise server solutions, supported by channel sellers and OEMs such as Cisco, Dell Technologies, Gigabyte, HPE, Lenovo and Supermicro.
“We have seen a clear opportunity to give our customers more options that bring the leadership performance and efficiency of EPYC to less technically demanding but still business critical workloads. Servers powered by 3rd Gen AMD EPYC CPUs deliver impressive price-performance on widely deployed, cost effective and proven mainstream technologies,” says Dan McNamara, senior vice president and general manager, Server Business Unit, AMD.
3rd Gen AMD EPYC CPUs, leveraging the “Zen 3” core architecture, power solutions across leading enterprises, cloud service providers, government and financial services.
Offering performance across the portfolio with support for up to eight channels of fast DDR4 memory and up to 128 lanes of high throughput PCIe Gen 4, 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors allow customers to extend the value of IT infrastructure investments, AMD reports. The lineup of 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors is available and is fully compatible with existing AMD EPYC 7003 Series CPU-based systems, providing an upgrade path.
