ARBURG says it will exit the additive manufacturing (AM) business area as of December 31, 2025. The company says it ensures support for existing customers and users of the freeformer in terms of service and spare parts.
"This business decision was taken after careful evaluation and consideration of the current market situation and the current economic parameters," says Dr. Armin Schmiedeberg, chairman of the Advisory Board at ARBURG. The company says that the freeformer industrial manufacturing system and the associated ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) production process, launched in 2013, have not realized their economic targets for this business area in the long term, nor has the global 3D printing market as a whole developed in line with expectations.
However, existing AM customers and users of the freeformer can continue to rely on ARBURG's brand promise "Wir sind da.": In the future, customers will be fully supported directly by ARBURG. This includes a spare parts supply and comprehensive service for existing freeformers on the market. However, ARBURG will no longer participate in trade fairs, events and symposia.
The approximately 40 ARBURGadditive employees from sales, development, application technology and assembly will be able to transfer to ARBURG, so that customers will still have competent contacts and long-standing experts.
