Autodesk, Inc. (San Rafael, CA) has announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire NavisWorks (Sheffield, England). Autodesk reports that the purchase price is approximately $25 million in cash, subject to a working capital adjustment.

NavisWorks, a privately held company, is known for its JetStream 3D software. The company’s software provides such capabilities as coordination, collaboration, clash detection, and construction simulation for engineers, architects, shipbuilders, and process and power engineers. Earlier this week, NavisWorks announced that the newest version of JetStream, 5.4, had achieved Inventor 2008 certification, which brings it into compatibility with the full Autodesk 2008 product portfolio

In the press announcement, Autodesk says that it “currently plans to offer new solutions that incorporate both NavisWorks and Autodesk technology, and to continue supporting the existing NavisWorks product line.”
