In answer to the question, "Is there a stylish, mobile, inflatable alternative to the traditional bathroom?", we now have this pop-up bubble bathroom developed as part of an initiative between the Association of the German Sanitation Industry and the folks at trade fair organizer Messe Frankfurt.

The mobile, eco-friendly bathroom will be featured in Hall 3.0 at this year's ISH Fair (March 12-16, Frankfurt, Germany) as part of an event called  "Pop Up My Bathroom." This is actually a traveling exhibition, complete with lecture program, that focuses on the latest trends in the sanitary industry. According to the website:

Pop up my Bathroom gives visions a place to unfold. A team of creatives, experts and trend researchers explores the possibilities that modern bathroom design holds for the bathroom culture of an individualistic society. We gather information, discuss tendencies, allow ideas to take experimental shape. With a realistic background, but with no real barriers.

The "Bathroom Bubble" includes a tub, a lounge chair and a sink (no toilet, for obvious reasons).

Yes, but what about privacy?

As for the more practical matter of portable toilets, from what I gather the state of the art in the sector appears to be vacuum toilet technology. It's more expensive, but uses less water and, by all accounts, is less "smelly." You can see an example here.
