The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS), an association for measurement professionals, has announced Trevor Toman as the chair of the organization’s newly formed Academic subcommittee. Toman will serve as a liaison with education institutions to forge knowledge-sharing and working relationships.

Toman has worked in the manufacturing industry for more than 30 years, with extensive experience in the calibration and measurement disciplines. He authored and delivers a Foundation degree in Metrology at Coventry University, UK, where he heads the Metrology Department within the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.

The Coordinate Metrology Society has also announced a “Call for Posters” for the academic community. This professional organization invites submissions of poster abstracts for a poster competition to be featured at the 2011 Coordinate Metrology Systems (CMSC) being held in Phoenix from July 25-29, 2011.

The Posters Presentation Event gives participants the opportunity to share experiences and information with CMS members via “poster and short oral presentations” showcasing accomplishments in the field. The CMS encourages submissions that focus on metrology applications and experiments, best practices, and successful projects from both novice and seasoned participants. All presented posters will be considered for the Best Poster Award as voted upon by the CMS.

For more information, or to submit a poster abstract, visit the Coordinate Metrology Society.
