3D Systems (Rock Hill, SC) will include Alibre Design parametric 3D CAD software with its new V-Flash desktop 3D printing system. Alibre Design is developed by Alibre Inc. (Richardson,TX).

The V-Flash Desktop Modeler uses 3D Systems’ FTI (film transfer imaging) technology and carries a base price of $9,900. Alibre Design enables users to model parts and assemblies and produce 2D detail drawings and STL files for use with the V-Flash 3D printer.

“Alibre and 3D Systems have a common vision of eliminating the barriers to 3D design and manufacturing,” said Greg Milliken, CEO of Alibre. “You no longer need tens of thousands of dollars or expertise in 3D CAD. True ‘Art-to-Part’ on your desktop is now accessible to anyone.”

“With the capability to create high-quality, ready-to-use, three-dimensional models in the office, home or school setting, and the affordability of this solution, we believe that this modeler and its accompanying technology will usher in a new expansion era of Rapid Prototyping to a broader range of market applications.” said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and CEO.
