PDF3D announced its support for AutoCAD's latest 2014 software version.

PDF3D's latest update of the ReportGen tool allows AutoCAD users to easily convert DWG files to rich, fully interactive, animated 3D PDFs at the touch of a button, according to the company.

"As unaffiliated, independent developers, we are great fans of Autodesk and admire what the company has done with their 2014 version. The brand's values fit perfectly with those at PDF3D and so evolving ReportGen to work seamlessly with AutoCAD 2014 felt like a natural evolution of our tool. It's good to be able to add value to such a popular design authoring product," said Ian Curington of PDF3D. "As a result, our tool can be easily integrated with AutoCAD to create highly compressed 3D PDFs regardless of how large or complex the DWG files are, without losing design fidelity in the process."

The solution can automatically scan assemblies and show 3D part dimensions as embedded PDF markup information (PMI). As well as the DWG format, DWF and ZGL drawing formats extend the reach of reporting for AutoCAD users. 3D CAD simplification filtering provides control over final report size. The tool enables engineers and designers to instantly and automatically convert multiple files into 3D PDFs with full text annotations and specifications.
