FARO Technologies, Inc. (Korntal-Muenchingen,Germany) announced the ability to collect scan data has been added to itsmetrology software, CAM2 Q. Built with a Parasolid CAD engine plus CADtranslator, CAM2 Q allows the FARO Laser ScanArm to automatically recognizegeometric features such as holes and planes, for noncontact inspection.

The newCAM2 Q 1.1 allows users to:

  • Out of the box, use FARO hardware toinstall and measure
  • Simultaneously measure with multipleFaroArm units and FARO Laser Trackers on the same location
  • Customize the windows and toolbarlayouts to suit a project, and save multiple users’ choices.
  • Use the same window to create, editand run programs
  • Create measurement/operationsequences with onscreen instructions for instructing other users
  • View exact dimensions and geometricproperties instantly without a measurement software lag
  • Change/convert between differentmeasurement units or coordinate systems without re-measuring when everneeded
  • Experience no preset order ofoperation, meaning that features can be added, changed or measured at any timeand in any order.
  • Add new features to a prototype, anddisplay, delete, or re-measure every measured point without starting over
  • Ensure that their geometrycalculations are accurate to one half micron; 500 times thinner than the widthof a human hair
  • Create customized reports inmultiple formats such as Microsoft Word and Excel, HTML, PDF, andothers
  •  

CAM2 Q 1.1is currently available in English, Russian, French, German, Italian, Portuguese,Spanish, Polish Japanese and Chinese.
