CFD suite joins electronics design virtual prototyping heavyweight.

Flomerics Group (London, UK and Marlborough, MA) announced that it hasreached agreement on the proposed acquisition of fluid flow and heattransfer fluid simulation  software developer NIKA GmbH (Frankfurt,Germany).

NIKA built its reputation with its EFD—Engineering Fluid Dynamics—suiteof CFD (computational fluid dynamics) applications. EFD software NIKAuses APIs (application programming interfaces) to embed CFDfunctionality into such MCAD applications as CATIA, Pro/EngineerWildfire, and SolidWorks, enabling its solver to interact directly withthe most recent version of one’s native MCAD data. NIKA’sCOSMOSFloWorks product is exclusively marketed by SolidWorks and itsreseller channel.

In its statement press statement, Flomerics stated that it believedthat “there is a significant opportunity to expand NIKA’s salesimmediately into countries such as the USA and the UK where Flomericsalready has a strong presence.”

Flomerics’ Chief Executive, Gary Carter, was quoted as saying, “Theproposed NIKA acquisition helps Flomerics to consolidate our leadingposition in our core markets such as electronic thermal analysis, andat the same time opens up a whole new market opportunity in puttingcomplex CFD technology into the hands of mechanical designers.”

No closing date on the sale was announced.
